Dr. Lynn Cohick is associate Professor of New Testament at Wheaton College, Wheaton, IL. She is interested in how average Jews and Christians lived out their faith in the ancient setting of Hellenism and the Roman Empire. In her doctoral work, she studied an Easter homily written by a second century figure Melito of Sardis. She examined the author's use of the Hebrew Scriptures (Old Testament) to explain Jesus Christ, and his portrayal of Christians' relationships with Jews. Dr. Cohick is also interested in how women celebrated their religions in the ancient world, and how that might help contemporary women in their faith.
Before moving to the Chicago area in 2000, she had the privilege of teaching overseas at the Nairobi Evangelical Graduate School of Theology in Nairobi, Kenya, for three years (1998-2000). She was challenged by the students' dedication, and enriched by their vibrant Christian faith.
When not teaching, you might find Dr. Cohick and her two children, Charles and Sarah, out riding their horses. She enjoys reading mysteries and jogging with her husband, Jim.
